Whoo's What?

Dear Debbie and Bill,

There is something I'd like to share about the Whoo's Inn piece in the new red color.

As you know, it should have the mouse in red dress with ivory sleeves, holding green lantern. Photo

There are some pieces, however, with black lantern and white sleeves. Is this an error, or a limited test color variation that was changed later ?

Frankly speaking, it's hard to say for sure, but 78 pieces were painted this way. One of them was photographed, and its picture appeared on the factory website, on the News page: Photo at the WFF site. Several retailers, in their turn, showed the picture from the factory News page on their web sites. The Concord Mousetrap, however, took a photo of the real piece they received. And that is when the difference was discovered.

Thus, we have yet another rare color variation for the year 2001 !

First, we had a Mall Mom without dots on the bow; we all remember her. She was pictured on the postcard sent to retailers, and approximately 400 pieces were painted this way. Photo

Later, when the 4th of July colors were issued, we got 2 more rare color variations.
There was an error on the April Showers piece, some pieces had a white button on the hat (instead of the blue one).
And then, several One Mouse Band pieces with white pants were discovered standing on the blue painted floor base with a red glittered trim (instead of the white painted floor base with a blue glittered trim) Photo. The factory confirmed this to be a very limited test version, produced before the final decision on the base color.
Both of the above pieces were sent randomly to WFF retailers, without keeping track of store names.

And now, the Whoo's Inn in a different color. Wouldn't it be nice to follow at least this one down to the actual retailers ?
Well, this is precisely what I did.

It appears that most of these Whoo's Inn pieces were sent to Noah's stores. To be exact, Noah's is getting 68 pieces. The first batch of 10 pieces went to a different retailer - yet unknown. Does anyone have the missing part of the puzzle ? Let us know!

Love - Lulu
