The Concord MouseTrap Auction Terms

Last revised: March 10, 2007

    GENERAL :

    • All auctions will be starting on Sunday nights, around 23:00 EST, and will remain open until their scheduled closing time, 23:00 EST of the next Monday (auctions will run for one week and one day).

If no bids are placed within the last 5 minutes before the scheduled closing time, the auction closes at 23:00:00, and any bids placed at 23:00:01, or later, are not valid.

If a bid is placed during the last five minutes of an auction, this auction is automatically extended for five minutes. This extension process will repeat until there are no bids placed within the last five minutes of the extended time. There is no limit to the number of times an auction can be extended.

    • If the Auction Board is down for the reasons beyond the control of the CMT or the Board Administrator, the auctions will be extended as follows:

      • if the Auction Board is down for 5 minutes or longer within the last hour before the scheduled closing time, but not in the very last 15 minutes, the auction will be extended for one hour

      • if the Auction Board is down for any time within the very last 15 minutes before the scheduled closing time, the auction will be extended until 23:00 EST of the following Monday (i.e. the auctions will be extended for one week)

    • All questions regarding the items should be asked prior placing a bid, and referred to The Concord MouseTrap by email toBill@concordmousetrap.com or by phone (978) 287-4800.
    • All items offered for sale in the auctions are owned by Concord MouseTrap, Inc. All items will be available for viewing at the Concord MouseTrap store (address and directions).
    • All pictures presented in the auctions are of the actual items, taken shortly before the auctions.
    • Every item will be sold to the highest bidder.
    • In case of tie bids, the earliest bid received will win.

    BIDDING :

    • Only registered bidders can place a bid. You can find the registration procedure here: CMT Auction Registration Procedure.
    • All participants in the CMT auction must be U.S. residents and provide U.S. addresses.
    • Persons under the age of 18 are not eligible to participate in CMT auctions. If you are under 18, please do not submit any personal information to us. If you are under 18, your parent or guardian must register in their own name and make bids for you.
    • All bids are done in U.S. dollars.
    • All bids are placed by posting their exact amount.

Note: CMT auctions operate in open auction format. Proxy bidding is not supported. Therefore, the exact amount you are posting becomes your current bid.

    • To place a bid, click on the "Place your bid" link, and fill the "Username" and the "Bid Amount" fields. It is then necessary to type your bid amount again, in a field following the "Bid Amount" field, in order to confirm it. After completing all three fields, press the "Place your bid" button. You will be asked to provide your username and password to complete the operation.

Note: the amount of your bid, thus, should appear in both the Subject and the Body of your post.

    • To protect your privacy, we strongly advise not to write your email address and your real name when bidding. Use your registered username, and leave the email field blank.
    • Minimum bid for each item is stated in the item description, there are no reserves.
    • Bids must be placed using the following minimum increment scale:

       Bid Amount Range:

         Minimum Increment:

      up to $24.99

      $0.50

      $25.00 - $99.99

      $1.00

      $100.00 - $199.99

      $2.00

      $200.00 - $499.99

      $5.00

      $500.00 - $999.99

      $10.00

      $1000.00 - $2499.99

      $25.00

      $2500.00 - $4999.99

      $50.00

      $5000.00 and up

      $100.00

Any bid with an increment lower than a required minimum will not be valid. For your convenience, the minimum increment table is recited in each auction.

    • There is no limit to the number of sequential bids that can be placed by a single bidder. You may place additional bids even if you are not being overbid by others. However, the minimum increment requirement applies to all bids you place. This means that your bids may only be increasing, and the difference between two adjacent bids cannot be smaller than the minimum increment specified in the auction for the appropriate bid amount. Bids that do not satisfy these rules will not be valid. The highest valid bid you place becomes your current bid.
    • Bids are not retractable, except under special circumstances, such as an item's description being changed after the bid was placed, or an obvious typographical error is found. To retract your bid, please contact the board administrator (by email) before the auction close time, and explain the reasons for your bid retraction.

Note: bid retraction cannot be requested after the auction has ended. Change of mind, failure to read these terms, or to resolve any questions prior to bidding, cannot be considered as a valid reason for bid retraction once the bid is placed.

    • In a bid retraction happens at or near the auction's closing time, the auction will be extended.
    • In fairness to all we cannot accept unlimited bids.
